Just got our budget approved by the WordPress Foundation

Regulations on WordCamps are tighter this year.

Not a bad thing. It means greater support and involvement by the WordPress Foundation in exchange for conforming to the standards being adopted by all the camps.

One of the conditions of being listed among the official WordCamps from this point forward is approval of the budget.

Essentially, the nonprofit WordPress Foundation wants to make sure no one is profiting from the event and the ethos of a low cost, Do-It-Yourself conference is preserved.

We’ve been doing that all along so no worries for WordCamp Fayetteville.

In fact the WordPress Foundation’s Jane Wells just approved our 2011 budget.

Our watchword has always been transparency and that’s a value WordPress Foundation wants to continue – In fact, WordPress Fayetteville 2010 has the distinction of being the only WordCamp to publicly post financials on the website that year.

So here is the budget that was approved. It’s ambitious but awesome, effectively doubling what we spent last year.
