Once of the best things about WordPress is that it, and the plugins and themes that run under it, are licensed under the GPL (General Public License). This open source licensing allows developers and users to “Fork” the work, meaning they can take the source code of a project, modify, and redistribute it. Legally. In this talk, we look not at the technical side of Forking, but at the ethical side. We look at why and how to fork without violating the GPL or the rights of the original developers.
