Getting down to business with WordPress (track highlight)

Entrepreneurs and established businesses alike have a valuable tool in WordPress. From having a powerful, effective website to utilizing a corporate blog to increase SEO, businesses can use WordPress to grow their business.

We’ve created a track at WordCamp Fayetteville 2015 just for this kind of user. The Business Track schedule has experienced speakers sharing about a variety of topics from branding to DIY tips and security.

The morning starts out with Angela Belford talking about branding your business using WordPress. Angela co-owns The Belford Group, which guides clients through the branding process every day—including website development.

The next session features Rebecca Haden of Haden Interactive who will talk about “world domination with WordPress.”

“Businesspeople whose companies use WordPress websites often have no idea how much great stuff they can do with their websites. In this session, we will look at themes, plugins, and native WordPress capacity to improve collaboration on things like editing pages and posts; project management; customer relationship management; and team building,” according to her session description.

Michael White of Doc4 Design will guide participants through the “The Limits of DIY” in the next session. He will help business leaders understand when they can make changes to their own website and when it’s best to call for help.

“Be braver than you think you are, but don’t do harm to your business by taking on battles you can’t win,” Michael says in his session description. “Prioritize and figure out how best to use your resources, and WordPress will be a real asset to your business.”

At noon we break for lunch and we hope you’ll use the time to collaborate and learn from each other! The 1 o’clock hour presents our keynote Josepha Haden who will talk about what’s new with WordPress. Josepha is a Northwest Arkansas native who now works for Automattic, the company that operates WordPress.com.

Sessions pick up again at 2 p.m. with Colin Condray of Blue Zoo Creative talking about Security for WordPress sites. Security is vital to protecting internal company information and client information. Security is so much more than having a strong password!

The next session in the Business Track is with Jamie Smith of Jamie’s Notebook. Jamie will talk about why businesses should have a blog and how to get started, including figuring out if you can handle it on your own or if you should outsource.

The day will end with Christi Daniels sharing about email list building.

She invites participants to“take a tour of list building possibilities, tools and approaches. Then turn down the volume of those outside voices and tune into your own situation to decide what list building approach is best suited to take you to the next level in your business.”

Christi moonlights at Sweet Spot Consulting doing internet marketing support for select clients, but is shifting her focus to growing her own passion project into a business.
